5 Budget-Friendly Tips for Traveling Across the Galiyat

A Galiyat trip doesn't have to mean an expensive private car for every leg, three restaurant meals a day, or a hotel room bill that eats half your budget. With a bit of planning, the whole corridor — Khaira Gali, Changla Gali, Dunga Gali and Nathia Gali — is genuinely affordable to see properly. Here are five ways to do it right.

1. Use the New Green Electric Bus and the TDCP Tourist Bus — Not a Private Car for Every Leg

Two separate public bus services now cover this region, and knowing which one does what can save a genuine amount of money.

Green Electric Bus (Islamabad ↔ Murree) — Rs. 20 per ride

Launched in July 2026, this is a genuinely new and very cheap way to get from Islamabad to Murree without driving or hiring a taxi. It starts at the 17-Mile (Satra Meel) stop on the Murree Expressway and ends at Lari Adda, Murree's main bus stand, passing through Jhika Gali and Lower Topa along the way.

• Fare: Rs. 20 flat — free for women, senior citizens and children under 5
• Hours: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily (extended to 10:00 PM in peak summer and snowfall season)
• Frequency: approximately every 30–45 minutes

If you're driving up from Islamabad, one practical trick: park near the Satra Meel stop and take the electric bus the rest of the way into Murree, rather than fighting for parking in the town itself. A second electric route — the Bhurban Resort Shuttle — connects Murree's upper ridge directly to Bhurban village for around Rs. 30, useful if you're staying at one of Haven's Bhurban properties and want to head into Murree for the day without a car. The two services aren't interchangeable: the electric bus is for the short Islamabad–Murree hop (and a couple of local Murree routes), while the TDCP bus is the one that actually loops through the Galiyat sightseeing towns. Check current schedules and fares directly with the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab before travel, since timings occasionally change with the season.

2. Traveling as a Group? Hire a Coaster or HiAce Instead of Multiple Cars

If you're a larger family or group of friends, splitting into two or three private cars is usually the most expensive way to travel the Galiyat.
